Hello, and welcome to the Solid Forensics blog.

We write on cutting-edge tools and techniques for investigators and intelligence analysts.   Whether you work for a small police department, a state investigations division, or a larger Federal organization, our goal is to make the content straightforward and actionable.  Get informed of new articles by subscribing to our RSS.   For more updates, follow us on Twitter.

Here is an overview of what you will find on the Solid Forensics blog:

Investigation Industry News

As new industry developments occur that we think are useful for investigators and analysts, you will hear about them here first.  In addition to the projects that we are working on at Direct Hit Systems, we will share other interesting news in relation to all aspects of forensics.  Some of the topics include:

  • Cell Forensics (aka Mobile Phone Forensics outside the USA)
  • Analyzing Subpoenaed Records (Call Detail Records, Emails, Telco Data)
  • Computer Forensics (more on analysis than acquisition, but we will link elswhere)
  • GPS Forensics (Correlating seized GPS devices, Cell Tower Pinging)
  • Analysis of Organized Criminal Activity (Gangs, Drugs, Narcotics, Counterfeiting)
  • Software Tools (Case Management, Call Analysis, Linkage Charts, Data basing)
  • DNA Forensics for Local Crimes (developing a local indexing system, training providers, etc)

Real Life Case Studies

More than just developments, though, we will share real life stories of how these new developments are making our jobs easier and getting more criminals off the street.  I am big on pictures, videos, and engaging content in general.  So, count on us sharing some interesting examples of how the systems we recommend are actually working for us and organizations that work with us.

Links to Other Companies and Organizations

We will update you on our latest software developments, along with other developments from companies.  Free tools, white papers, and other data will be indexed here as we have time.

Webinars and Events

As this site grows, we will be hosting informative online training and product demonstrations for our readers.  If you have something you would like to share with the forensic analysis community, feel free to contact us.

Why did we start this blog?

Take a look around on the internet.  There is very little up-to-date information that is actually actionable and informative for investigators, let alone forensic analysts.  We want to provide that information to our industry.

We also work for a company that is committed to offering the very best in forensic analysis software.  We figure that if you think we know what we are talking about, you might considerlooking at some of our systems.
